clearing house

(1) an agency operated by financial organizations to exchange and pay checks drawn on each other. (2) an organization connected with a commodity exchange through which all futures contracts are reconciled, settled, guaranteed, and later either offset or fulfilled through delivery of the commodity, and through which financial settlements are made.
